Green Building
- Demolition:
- We send all construction and demolition waste to a local recycling and transfer station to be salvaged.
- Plumbing:
- Low flow toilets can be installed that save thousands of gallons a year.
- Electrical:
- Solar energy and installation of high-efficiency lighting systems with advanced lighting controls, including motion sensors tied to dimmable lighting controls.
- Structural:
- We can use engineered lumber and space the joist with wider spacing, resulting in less lumber usage (where applicable and with engineering approval).
- Flooring:
- Flooring systems that are sustainably harvested, such as bamboo, cork and reclaimed flooring can be used.
- Heating:
- Hydronic heating systems can be used that are more energy efficient due to the dual use of shared holding tanks with hot water heater and heating system. In addition, a zoning system would reduce energy use.
- Cabinets:
- Sustainably harvested lumber, recycled, reclaimed or salvaged wood can be used by our cabinetmakers.
- Countertops and Tile:
- Recycled glass, metal tile, paper resin and concrete countertops can be used.
- Paint:
- Low Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) paints with, natural sealers and plasters can be use.
- Insulation:
- We can install UV mats and foam insulation, which is more energy efficient and also provides additional noise insulation.
